The beta version of Payload is ready for play. The beta is limited to the Mac osX version but a Windows version will be available on release. There is no installation required to run Payload - just run the application. Move your vehicle left and right using the left and right arrow keys. Do not let your payload touch
anything other than the chasis of the vehicle.
Deliver your payload before time runs out. Please leave feedback either through comments or email.
While on the 4th of July we Americans celebrate our independence day, people world wide should remember the great Rube Goldberg who was born today in 1883. As well as being an amazing illustrator, Rube understood the joy of playing with physics in novel ways. Goldberg machines still amaze audiences today, for example...
byScott Lembcke This game totally made my day. Simple little puzzle game that could be played in one sitting.
My only real complaint was that the it was a bit hard on the eyes due to the choppy vertical scrolling. 2008-02-15 20:02:04
This is a little demo of a new game engine I am working on for future PHYSLE games. If there is one thing that was learned from Hickory it's that making a stable and efficient physics engine that is fun and easy to use is no simple task. To that end I have adopted the widely respected Chipmunk physics engine, and created a binding to the ever popular Lua scripting language. It's coming together pretty nicely so I thought I would share the results.
Open beta test for Physle's new game, Hickory has started! Hickory is a puzzle/platform game where you play a mouse named Hickory working his way to the top of a clock tower to retrieve his cheese. Full screen support is still experimental and may run too fast or slow or not at all depending on your computer and monitor. Please report any problems or suggestions here either through comments or email. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
bynick There are way too many places you can get stuck at the moment. Really suxxors when it happens towards the end >.< 2008-01-23 08:28:55
byGabe I love it Nick - very cool. Wish I had seen it earlier! There's a couple of walkover terrains that aren't immediately clear that they are semi-walkable (pipey thingy) If you made the level design force this realization (as in it would your ONLY place to jump) I think you'd improve the flow a lot.

byNick The places where the ground dips which causes you not to jump can be a real bummer. One though I had was to delay the "can jump" toggle when you are not on the ground anymore. You would be able to jump 1/4 of a second after you started falling. 2008-02-01 08:22:42
Physle has officially released its first game Inferno, a fast paced platform game set in the pits of hell. Version 1.0 contains 10 levels as well as a hidden bonus level. Some of the improvements since the beta include better handling of the scoreboard when a network connection is not present, less memory usage, a few tweeks to the levels and best of all - full screen support.
Because Inferno uses a wide-screen aspect ratio (800x500 in windowed mode) it will try to use a non-standard resolution of 1024x640 in full screen mode. Most Macintosh monitors (macbooks included) support this resolution but many Dell monitors will not. In this case the game defaults to a standard 1024x768 resolution inside of a letterbox.
We were unable to test Inferno on Microsoft Vista but the language and frameworks used to create Inferno claim to support it. I would love to hear from you if you successfully (or unsuccessfully) run Inferno on Vista. I would also like to thank those who played Inferno during its beta test: Naomi, Gabe, John, Nate, Scott, Meredith, and anyone else I am forgetting. Thanks! 2007-10-26 07:41:56
Physle has launched its official website, physle.com! Here will reside the latest and greatest versions of all Physle games, walkthoughs, game guides, discussions, custom levels, sneak peeks of works in progress and lots of other fun stuff. In the next few weeks I will be fleshing out the site content, adding screen shots, descriptions of the games, and a few working betas. Most of the content will be related to Physle games and the technology and techniques use to make them, although I doubt I will be able to resist the occasional editorial.
Feel free to comment below. I decided to go with a open blog format which allows anonymous or authored comments. If this system is abused I may require accounts to comment. Hopefully it will not come to that. If you notice any problems with the site please let me know. Although I thought about using wordpress or something similiar, in the end I decided to brush up on my PHP skills and roll my own. So far everything appears to be working smoothly. 2007-09-30 10:54:06
